Markets and Successes
Channel Synergy has placed sales professionals, relationship officers, management, and senior management on the East and West coasts, in the Central and Northern Midwest, Southeast, Southwest, Rockies, and of course Florida and Texas. Our clients have included the largest NYSE institutions, various money managers, insurance companies, boutiques of innovative regional banks, retirement administration firms, and an array of new initiatives.
Approach
We enjoy excellent candidate referrals from appropriate professional sources in all regions. We conduct proactive research, independent of searches and maintain a tremendous database. We are experts in our market niches. Informed, aggressive, and disciplined, we are more efficient than generalist financial recruiters and franchise boiler rooms (and better for your public relations).
We are particularly interested in the core goals of clients as well as candidate motivations.
Background
In 1983 John Kelly joined Merrill Lynch in Napa Valley, following success in San Francisco
advertising, where his clients included Young & Rubicam, Chevron, and Bank of California. He was one of Merrill's first three Corporate Account Executives, as announced in WSJ.
In 1988 he returned to San Francisco, joining Robert Grant Associates to recruit institutional
investment management and 401(k) sales professionals. Clients included John Hancock, Travelers Investment Co., Oppenheimer - Quest For Value, Charles Schwab, and Watson Wyatt.
John became independent in 1994, registering Channel Synergy in 1999.
After consultation to define characteristics of successful retirement plan sales professionals, New York Life's MainStay Funds became a major recruiting client, hiring a dozen skilled 401(k) sales professionals for what became a remarkably successful division in its first year.

As a result of certain individual successes, Channel Synergy was selected to recruit a team of very high level wealth, estate, and executive planning consultants for American Express, which led to our diversification into wealth-related professions.
Subsequently we've placed many more wealth management professionals, retirement plan specialists, trust business development officers, trust administrators, and senior executives.
